Optical sources of coherent radiation (lasers):
A) Pulsed-periodic flashlamp pumping dye lasers of the "Promin-2" series
These lasers are capable of performing a broad scope of functions in different fields of research, engineering, and medicine, where the selective spectral interaction of optical radiation with substance is used. The presence in these systems of a fiber-optic tract for delivering the laser radiation directly to the interaction area serves their multifunctional purpose.
Based on modified pulsed-periodic laser of this series a "Zond-1" laser lithotripter has been engineered to fragment calculi (stones) in the urinary system with a (laser wavelength of 530 nm, 1.5 mcs pulse duration, spectral band-width of 510 nm, for a controlling range of output energy out of a light guide is 20150 mJ with a step of 10 mJ).
Laser lithotripsy is based on a photo-acoustic effect: as the laser pulse is absorbed by a stone an acoustic shock wave is brought about in it. Repeated pulses cause cracks to develop in the stone, which begins to crumble into fragments whose small size allows them to be passed out. Here the resilient tissue surrounding the stone is not much affected by the sound waves.

B) ALT LASER 10-100-VS Laser Complex
This facility is intended for applying a durable image on the surface of various articles made from metals, ceramics, plastics, semiconductors, wood, leather, etc. It is built around a fiber laser.The marking process takes a few seconds and does not require that a surface be additionally finished. This laser unit can be employed under production conditions and in advertising.

C) Hyperfrequency laser unit based upon a HCN laser (for a wavelength of 0.337 mm)
The unit is chiefly used for medical purposes, because submillimeter radiation tends to promote the metabolic processes in a human organism (reduces the period of treating the diseases of joints and bones).
This particular laser facility can be employed to mobilize the immune system and regulatory functions in a human organism with a goal of preventing and curing the locomotive system affection and fulfilling other therapeutic purposes.

D) An 0.337 mm wavelength multichannel laser interferometer and 0.195 mm wavelength laser homodyne interferometer-polarimeter
A laser interferometer is intended to determine an average electron density (up to 1015 cm-3) of the high-temperature plasma
and to distribute the electron concentration across the plasma beam section. The interferometer-polarimeter allows the magnetic field of the magnetoactive
plasma current and its electron density to be simultaneously determined on the TOKAMAK and URAGAN-type thermonuclear facilities.
